How popular is this hobby?
Reenacting the "War Between the States" is a growing hobby. There are thousands of reenactors across the United States, although reenacting is not confined to this country. There are reenactors in Australia, Austria, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Ukraine, and a few other Baltic states in Europe that are interested in America's Civil War.

How expensive is this hobby?
Reenacting can be an expensive hobby, although is is no more expensive than scuba diving, skydiving, or even golf if you seem to enjoy buying a really nice set of golf clubs. The average price for a three-band Enfield rifle is somewhere between $375 and $475, depending on the dealer. The rifle is the most expensive item most people have to buy, unless you are interested in the artillery.
